Raspberries

Filed under: Fruit — bob @ 6:21 pm

November is the time to cut back ever bearing raspberries grown as fall raspberries.

It is as simple as mowing them down to within a couple of inches to the ground. Rake them up and dispose of them by burning or setting out for trash pickup.

Don’t compost these prunings because any disease organisms present will not be destroyed in a typical composting situation.

Standard raspberries are much more complicated to grow.  For those who are interested I have scanned an old  pamphlet written sometime during the 70′s on growing raspberries and have included it here in this post.

Some of the information may not be up to date especially the information on varieties. Otherwise it is a very useful publication.
