Louis, You know, I have never tried that method of placing seed. Over the years I have become fairly adept at dropping small seed from my finger tips, but your method sounds much easier and more efficient.
On the other hand, I do use the dry soil and cellophane method to cover the seed.
The next time we discuss sowing seed, I will be sure to add your comments to the post right away! (with full credit of course) :)
Thanks for the great suggestion.

Bob, Have you ever tried dempening your cold growing soil or medium with warm to hot water, mixing it well and fill your trays or plug tray. Then you spred some seed on to a small plate, start by using one finger, touch the damp soil, go over to a seed, touch it, it will stick to the end of your finger, transfer to the tray or plug, and the seed will attract itself to the soil. Repeat. After your tray is full of seed , take a handfull of dry soil or peat , rubbing your hands together from about a foot or so above the tray and let the soil rain over the seed. Compact the dry soil a little. You can spred a piece of celophane over it. Went you notice germation, remove the celophane. It works good for most seeds. .......... louis

We are always on the look out for tools that can make our job a little bit easier. The next seeder I want to try is a miniature spoon set. They are small metal double-ended spoons that are small enough to pick up one tiny seed at a time. The trouble is, I don't remember where I saw it for sale! :? If I find them, you can be sure I will post it here. Good gardening to you!

I was looking for information on hand seeders and it was great to hear from someone who has used them. You cleared up a lot of questions I had about which seeders worked best with which seeds. Thanks and I hope your growing season is great this year.
